Italian Nachos


                Italian Nachos - you might have been asking yourself, huh? Oh, let me tell you.
                Heaven on a plate. It's kind of a great alternative to chip nachos. A bread lovers
                    dream. This was so simple to whip up. Serve these for a girls night in.


                              It's truly a meal in itself - Serve with a nice bottle of chilled wine.

                                                                      Italian Nachos

                                                                      1 loaf Italian bread
                                                                      1 pound ground turkey or ground beef
                                                                      1 green bell pepper, diced
                                                                      1 small onion, diced
                                                                      2 garlic cloves, minced
                                                                      1 ( 15 ounce ) can tomato sauce
                                                                      1 ( 15 ounce ) can diced tomatoes
                                                                      1 can tomato paste
                                                                      1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
                                                                      1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
                                                                      salt and pepper - to taste
                                                                      1/2 cup fresh parmesan cheese
                                                                      garnish  with tomatoes and basil

                  1) In a large skillet add 1 teaspoon olive oil and add pepper, onion, garlic and
                  meat. Simmer until everything is cooked. Add spices, tomato sauce, tomato
                  paste and diced tomatoes. Cook for 20 minutes.
                  2) Cut your Italian bread and place it in a 450 degree oven until toasted.
                  3) Place bread on a platter and add sauce, cheese, tomatoes and basil.

  15. These look amazing. This would be a great way to serve "dinner" while watching a movie with my hubby for a date night. It would be filling enough for him, but simple to grab and eat!
