Italian Nachos
Italian Nachos - you might have been asking yourself, huh? Oh, let me tell you.
Heaven on a plate. It's kind of a great alternative to chip nachos. A bread lovers
dream. This was so simple to whip up. Serve these for a girls night in.
It's truly a meal in itself - Serve with a nice bottle of chilled wine.
Italian Nachos
1 loaf Italian bread
1 pound ground turkey or ground beef
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 small onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 ( 15 ounce ) can tomato sauce
1 ( 15 ounce ) can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper - to taste
1/2 cup fresh parmesan cheese
garnish with tomatoes and basil
1) In a large skillet add 1 teaspoon olive oil and add pepper, onion, garlic and
meat. Simmer until everything is cooked. Add spices, tomato sauce, tomato
paste and diced tomatoes. Cook for 20 minutes.
2) Cut your Italian bread and place it in a 450 degree oven until toasted.
3) Place bread on a platter and add sauce, cheese, tomatoes and basil.
