The Best Chili

That's a pretty huge statement, huh? All I can say is
that it is by far the best I have ever had. It's not the
normal chili and the flavor is so good. I always say
the secret to this recipe is the cranberry sauce! I hope
you try this. It will warm you up on these cooler months.

The Best Chili
3 pounds ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 ( 28 ounce ) Large cans of diced tomatoes
1  ( 28 ounce ) large can of tomato sauce
1 jar of prepared tomato sauce (garlic and peppers)
2  ( 16 ounce ) large cans of kidney beans
2 ( 28 ounce ) large can of baked beans
1 teaspoon of salt and pepper
2 packets of chili seasoning
1 can of cranberry sauce

Brown the first 4 ingredients. Drain and return to the
stove. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Simmer for
one hour. Serve with sour cream, green onions, cheese
and corn bread.

Note - this makes a lot of chili.

  15. It's a pretty unique recipe for sure. I love how the cranberry sauce gives it such a rich color. You will notice a little sweetness, along with the spicy. I like the mixture of beans too. I'm sure there are many amazing recipes for chili out there and I'd love to try them all. This is the only one I've been making for about 5 years!! SO GOOD!

  20. Val - this looks delicious! Great idea. I can totally see the cranberry sauce working. It will give it some "tang." Reminds me of mixing the chili sauce and grape jelly for meatballs. I think it is only appropriate that I'm on my third cup of coffee too while reading your blog! Have a great day!

  21. Love the unexpected cranberry sauce. One question....1 jar of tomato sauce? Do you mean pasta sauce, because we don't have that in jars around here. If not, about 18-20 oz? Thanks.

  22. Hi Amber, Yes...that is jar sauce. But, you can use can tomato sauce. Let me know if that helps. You are gonna love it. = )
