Coffee Treat

If you were born and raised in New England you know that Dunkin
Donuts is in your blood. It's your life line. I'am not joking. The
town I grew up in had a DD at every corner. The lines are long
but, you don't mind because they are mostly drive-thru and you
have your jammies on anyways. The only problem I have now
living in California is this.... We have no Dunkin Donuts here.
"Long Sigh" That means no bfast sandwich, no maple frosted
donuts, no medium coffee regular and no coffee coolatta, Nada,
Zilch, Nothing.
What's a East Coast girl to do? Well, she finds a way to make
these things at home.

Coffee Coolatta
1 1/4 cups very strong coffee
1 cup milk ( I used half and half)
5 tablespoons of granulated sugar
2 tablespoons of Hershey's syrup
1 tablespoon Torani hazelnut syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
2 1/4 cups of ice cubes

1) Brew strong coffee by using twice the amount of grounds required
by your coffee maker. That should be 2 tablespoons of ground coffee
per each cup of coffee. Chill before using.
2) Combine the cold coffee, milk, sugar, chocolate syrup, hazelnut syrup,
vanilla and almond extract in a blender and blend one minute on low to
dissolve sugar.
3) Add the ice and blend on high until ice is crushed and drink is smooth.
Pour into 2 glasses and serve with straws. Top with Whip Cream.

  5. Val, I would skip lunch ANY day to have one of those with you! LOL. Seriously though, I would : ) They look delicious. I'm a DD girl too. That's the type of coffee beans we buy for our Bunn brewer at home. Sooo good.

Hope you're having a great week so far.

  6. Hi Val, thanks for your visit to my blog. I am enjoying visiting with you.

I had to laugh about DD. When hubby and I were up in New England several years ago we were amazed at the number of DD there were. And your right, they are on each corner. What's up with that?

The recipe sounds yummy. Might have to give that a try. :)

  10. Perhaps they are migrating west! I missed it when I first moved to AZ from VA and now they are everywhere here! Their blueberry cake donuts are my absolute fave...then the chocolate ones. :)

  13. Mmmmmm! This sounds good. We do have Dunkin Donuts, but I rarely go there. I can't have much caffeine, so I usually stay away from coffee.

I can have about two cups of tea or 1 cup of coffee in the morning, then have to switch to decaf or my heart will start beating erratically and I get chest pains. Thought it was my heart, but it was the caffeine. But I do love coffee!

  14. Yes, we do have a DD on every corner. I did a post last week on the new apple cider & apple pie there. I don't drink coffee, but love the other drinks that they have. Dunkachinos rock (only a little bit of coffee in it).

  15. o YUM thank you for posting this! I sometimes make ice cubes with coffee from the day before but I'm not sure even that would improve on this perfection~~

  16. Yummy!! I have to try this. :)

I have a coffee punch recipe, if you would like it. :)

I love this song - Jars of Heart. Have you heard the story of the writer/singer? It's so neat. :)
